We cover a wide range of topics in this issue of Developing Leaders, but the tone is nicely set by the opening article with Bruce Wiesner of UBC Sauder. Wiesner is a champion of the balanced, hubris-free, diversity-led management approaches he sees his native Canada as being so strong in promoting – and the enduring stability and progress that can come from that.
This awareness of balance is echoed in our short second article from Grant Ackerman of Columbia Business School who riffs on the experiential activities with Jazz musicians that have long had a role to play in Columbia executive education programs – forcing participants to listen, collaborate, and lead in unfamiliar situations.
